Lovina – What to do with kids in North Bali part 2

School holidays are fast approaching and I am getting geared up for another adventure! With this in mind I wanted to enlighten you with one of our previous trips to north Bali. Lovina is in the northern part of Bali that is a quiet sea side town with so much to do. It takes you back to how Bali as many years ago and isn’t quite as yet populated like Seminyak and Canggu however boasts fantastic activities to do with kids and families.

We headed to Lovina after spending time in Pemuteran. You can read all about our adventure HERE which includes sunrise trips, snorkeling, Menjangan Island, turtle release and so much more. Lovina was the perfect stop after our trip to Pemuteran. Upon leaving the seaside town of Pemuteran we headed along the coast to Lovina and first stopped at the Hatten Winery. This is a local winery which offers tours around the grounds and wine tasting. My son had fallen asleep whilst on route so I opted out of the tour and tasting and my daughter and I looked at the beautiful vine tress and ate a few of the grapes that were ready to harvest.

Just before entering Lovina there is a small yet adequate water park with slides, and activities that will keep your kids entertained. Gran Surya Waterpark is a great spot to stretch the legs, cool down and enjoy. Now you could spend the afternoon there or just a few hours including a spot of lunch to break up that drive to Lovina (especially if coming from Seminyak way as it is a 3 hour drive). We had a rather black cloud looming and we had about 2 hours at the water park before deciding to hit the road again. My kids enjoyed the slides, the dumping bucket and simply just splashing around in the waters.

Upon entering Lovina there is a water sports facility called Krishna Water Sports which facilitates a restaurant and water sports which includes fly boards, parasailing, banana boats donut boats and much more.  It is here that we booked an early sunrise dolphin spotting. To be honest it was a rather beautiful moment seeing the dolphins however the amount of boats that were there to do this was not something I had expected. It was an amazing experience but be prepared that if you were to do this the amount of boats doing the same could surprise you. No dolphins were harmed however I am pleased we did the once.

Further along down the road is the Krishna Funland which we didn’t get a chance to visit as it was raining. The park opens in the afternoon at 4pm and is open until 11pm. It has quite a few rides and amusements for the kids and does look rather interesting and fun.

Accommodation wise there are many places to choose from being right on the beach, hotels, apartments however these can be very quickly booked and prices for a room can be rather expensive. I love the privacy of a villa and am happy to share with you a fantastic deal at Villa Bloom. Simply drop your bags, let the kids dive in the pool and just take in the view. We only stayed one night in Lovina but could have enjoyed a few more. Eating wise I took the kids to a place called Secret Garden which is more of a romantic night out with your loved one but rather special to take my kids there also. Food was lovely and the setting was beautiful. Definitely a place to visit. On a more casual vibe there is the Greek Cafe which does some pretty good healthy breakfast options, toasted sandwiches and salads that I also recommend visiting.
On our route back to Seminyak way we stopped at the Banjar Hot Springs which is approximately 5km from Lovina.  These bathing pools have been built around the hot water spring source and feature a tired structure system. It is a great recreational and therapeutic experience and one to enjoy whilst in Bali.
From the Hot Springs we ventured over the mountain, past the lakes and through Bedugul and back home. The journey home was scenic and beautiful and perhaps worth another post and adventure for you to consider and embark on. All the places mentioned can be found below and are not sponsored in any way. These are our experiences that we love sharing with you.
